2008 Foxtel Lap Event
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Fitnance Team for the 2008 Foxtel Lap, raising money for the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. The Fitnance Team came 4th overall with a total of 1042 laps. Our team consisted of Tom, Lazo, Anita, Tanya (twice), Jessica, Lara, Daniel, Kirk, Kirk's dad Ross who just happened to be hanging around at the right time, Lyrian, Fiona, Mizpah, Jake (twice), Russ, Phoebe, Rodney, Jackie, and our chief, Chris.
The day kicked off at 8am with Tom Kennedy running an easy 74 laps. Tom thought he would just warm up on 15km/h then crank it up to 20km/h for the last 10 minutes, however he was disappointed to find out the hard way that the maximum speed on the treadmill was 16km/h. Well done to Tom who had the second highest total laps for the day.
Chris was in his element with the microphone in his hand all day, leading everyone through a warm up and stretches. He almost became the MC. When it was time for the final race of the day, Chris was ready to take on all the chiefs. The treadmill was cranked up as fast as it could go at 16km/h and Chris kept at that pace for the full 30 minutes. Unfortunately, he was beaten by Telstra by 1 lap. It was a very exciting finish to an eventful day. Thank you to Fiona, Jessica, Lara, Daniel, Anita, Tom and Jake who volunteered to help out throughout the day.

Hi Guys
It is a little over 6 months since my first session with you all at Fitnance and I thought I would just send through a short note to say thanks for all your help in that time. When I started I was 132.5 kgs in weight and would be short of breath tying up my shoe laces. After having a previous boss of mine suggest that I shouldn't allow myself to be defined by my weight I thought I would bite the bullet and do something about it. I hadn't worked out in a gym in my entire 47 years and I was a bit apprehensive about what it would be like, but you all made me welcome and the rest of the crew that trains at Fitnance were a good bunch as well. Even though my lifestyle of corporate lunches and travel make the job of losing weight and increasing fitness very challenging your variety of tailored programs have seen me drop close on 20 kilos, over 15 cm in my waist and I can now go for a 5 km jog without passing out. Once again thanks for all your help and I look forward to sending another note when I have dropped the next 20 kilos.

12 week challenge...
Joe and Hamish off to a great start with big reductions in skin folds in the first 4 weeks. Congratulations to Wayne who started the 12 week challenge in September and has been coming to 5 classes a week. Jackie has also been training hard and has her skin folds at an all time low. Cameron's skin folds are still heading downwards. Make sure you keep adding your weekly weigh in result up on the board. A great start by all members. 7 weeks to go. The challenge will end with a great workout on Friday Dec 18th (5.30pm) and followed by our Xmas party and barbeque.
Don't forget there are spot prizes for various different parts of the 12 week challenge.
FOGS update:
It has been a big month of FOGS mentoring.
We have been to schools throughout Brisbane and Townsville. Pippa Savage (rowing), Alana Boyd (pole vault), Karni Liddell (swimming), Kenrick Monk (swimming), Tiata Baldwin (netball), Patrick Johnson (100m,200m), Lauren Colthorpe (Soccer), Brooke Spence (Soccer), Luke C Gregory (Martial Arts), Justin Anlerzark (Shot Putt) visited the schools. We talked about life as an athlete, the importance of healthy eating and education, as part of our mentoring. Wish I'd have had that opportunity at school!
Boxing / Tai Chi
TaiJi
It's been another good month for the TaiJi crew: Sioux started coming regularly and is already achieving positive cardio effects. Tom just keeps getting better: The postures are lower than ever and he is beginning to evidence waves in his movements. He tells me his is now experiencing improved flexibility also. Big congrats to Tom!
Heathers' movements are improving with every week and it is great to see her so regularly. Keep up the good work gang!
KungFu Team
What can I say? The crew keeps improving: Keno took the next step and now does the full-traditional training routine: Good man! If he keeps up the good work (which I know he will) then he will certainly get to the level he is aiming at. It is great to see how Kerstin is picking up the movement system. Everyone else is moving forwards nicely. Soon we shall all have snappy kicks and a goodly pounce.
Keep up the good work everyone. It is a great pleasure training with you.
